Karate is a discipline through which practitioners may find clues to assist them in their own spiritual development and self exploration. It is also, importantly, a martial art, encompassing philosophical considerations of life and death, struggle and survival. It is a practical form of self defence, emphasizing (at the initial stages) kicks, punches, blocks and body movement. It is an intense physical activity, which directly benefits mental conditioning.
The Banff Kyokushin Karate Club started in August of 2001. The club practices all aspects of Kyokushin Karate with emphasis on realistic, full contact sparring. A trait that separates Kyokushin Karate from many others.
Anyone has the ability to train in Kyokushin Karate. The nature of this discipline enables people from a wide variety of backgrounds, skill, and age levels to participate. Students should not compare their progress with others, rather they should always consider how they are exploring their own limitations and attempt to break past them.
