This class is intended to introduce older and/or more developed children to increasingly challenging techniques in basics, forms and self defence. Students are expected to behave properly in the dojo by focusing on karate and working hard. Training sessions are more physically demanding and contact sparring is regularly practiced. Entry into tournaments for kumite (fighting) and kata (forms) are a requirement for advancement once students have achieved a coloured belt. As in the junior class discipline is gained by following a routine and structure to the training. Repeating and practicing karate drills will help them become more proficient and skilled and athletic. As they make gains in these 3 areas their confidence will grow.
Students in the advanced kids practice may join the adults class at the invitation of the head instructor. As a guideline, 13 years or older may be considered for the adults practice.
All students must purchase approved karate dogi (uniform) shin guards, gloves and mouth guard. These must be brought to every practice.
